This apartment project is re-constructed in 2009-2010. From the architect itself is find the great challenge to rebuild this apartment. The Apartment JSJ which is under the construction of Filipe Melo Oliveira is actually an old apartment which is built in early 90s. This issue is the main problem for the architect itself who will rebuild this apartment. The design problem is how to transforming an outdated apartment into an updated and functional dwelling. The existing conditions of the apartment is contained a spectacular views of the Monsanto and the Tagus river, how beautiful! All of that thing is becomes the key point to highlight during the redesign, along with improvements in acoustic and thermal comfort.
Inside the apartment is exist the old kitchen, a bathrooms, hall way and the office space lacked to accommodate the owners lifestyle. All of that room is the most attention in the redesign. Organization and storage along with functionality, ergonomics and comfort are high priorities within the kitchen and the office spaces in particular. Both of these spaces are narrow and long, and it is required an ample amount of the attractive storage space and workable space.
The architect is created a functionally and unique curved book shelf in the office space. The kitchen’s simple color palette of black and white is coupled with the clean lines which are helps to visually maximize the space. The architect took a special care in choice of materials, color, shading systems, light fixtures, and window frames as seen in the finished design.
