Firstly before I review this building, let me say I really really impressed with this contemporary building design, Why not? This is a rather new design for me. This building is called the Splice Building, located in India and it was completed designed by Cadence Architects.
Its look so modern, or even so futuristic in the exterior design. This contemporary commercial complex is to sit on a tight corner site measuring for about 25’x100’. I think, typically the commercial complex as a ‘type’ is conceived as a generic glass box or clad with the standard materials such as ACP, the consequence of such surface articulation results in clichéd products.
By keeping the identity and the experience as the architect core issues, they have conceived an envelope which questions this very cliché of an inert glass box. I guest; the architect intention is to alter the horizontal reading of the elevation. It is by altering the conventional wall section, in example the typical floor, sill and lintel heights and constantly varying them along the length of the building.
Based on my picture observation, the building envelope is also not just conceived as a two- dimensional flat surface, but it is as three dimensional compositions of trapezoidal objects stitched together by a graphic recess that runs across the building. These tectonic strategies not only establish a new identity for the building, but also alter perception and thereby spawn a new visual experience.
The sharp lines which comes from those trapezoidal is provides the future accent. This sharp lines can be viewed from the far distance, it is because the facade is so large, and actually, this design is a window of the building.
What an impressive building architecture design! Personally I really love the architecture design.
