Contemporary House Faraway Landpscape Picture
Contemporary house design called The Glass Farmhouse, Northeast Oregon based, is completed designed by the architect Olson Kundig Architects. By the architect, this living space which floats atop the surrounding wheat fields is conceived as a contemporary glass house architecture design. While responding to the client’s deep interest in the design of Philip Johnson’s Glass House, the architecture design of the living space and accompanying wood-frame barn responds to the local vernacular of the barns and the farmhouses in the Pacific Northwest.
This contemporary house is facing towards the distant mountains. It is adapts well to the cold, snowy winters and hot, dry summers. From the low-angled winter sun, the orientation is takes the advantage of the passive solar heat gain in the winter season, while in the summer, the high hot summer sun which wants to enter this living space is blocked by the overhangs roof and a light shelf of the house. The cross ventilation cooling which is needed by this living space for lessening the house’s need for air-conditioning is provided by the large and operable windows of high-efficiency glass.
The impressive one is this location where the house was perched. It is in the open field near the wheat field. Very calm environment here. From the faraway landscape, we can see the two building of this house; it is the living space itself and its barn which is located separated near the main house building.
Contemporary House Interior Design
The main building is a totally large glass facade. From the inside of this living space, the owners can freely looking the surrounding area from the every angle of this house such as bedroom, living room and the kitchen. On the living room area, a fireplace is installed with the beautiful black marble stone construction. Near the living room area is the kitchen which is only partitioned by the fireplace. From the living room area, when the owner decided to take a rest and enjoy the day, they also can enjoy the surrounding overview through the large glass window which is designed by the architect. Change direction to the different angle, a mountain background clearly viewed from the same place.
