Taranta Creations have designed their contemporary office studio based in Shanghai, China. The office architecture and interior design is a reflection of the ongoing creative process within the studio. The intervention seeks to provide an adaptable space which is supports a range of the informal functions.
This office is precisely situated in a former metal factory. The difficulties which come from the excising diagonal steel structure cause the architect hard to fulfill the wish of the studio to create two floors. There is a distance between the structure and the ceiling, It is too less for a traditional office layout of the floor and the tables. In the space between the steel profiles are placed four working stations. Therefore a floor is created just above the steel structure.
Contemporary Office Design Interior
Inside this office, while the four recessed stations provide a more traditional workspace, this way the floor is transformed to one continuous desk. From the large ‘work floor’, the designer is invited to use the open space for thinking, sketching, meeting, drafting, modeling, sitting and relaxing. This informal interpretation of office space encourages cross-pollination between the different projects and disciplines occurring within the studio.
The individual workspace is placed along the window on the lower floor area. Green sculptural table which is conceived by the architect can be used for communal activities. The central staircase, it is informal and contoured, is reminiscent of a large droplet of the water ready to fall from the ceiling. A highly saturated environment of bright red engulfs and surrounds the individual upon entering the stairway, starkly marking the transition between the contrasting office areas. The color is repeated on the second floor as an accent to highlight the recessed work areas.
