An impressive living space which called the Desert House is completed designed by the architect Marmol Radziner. This living space which covers an area for about 20,234 square meters is located in Desert Hot Springs, California, USA and it is designed in 2005. This living space is precisely located on a five-acre site in this region, and this house, by the architect prefab’s prototype home is oriented to the best capture views of San Jacinto peak and the surrounding mountains. Which the 2000 square foot interior spaces, this living space is extends through the landscape with covered outdoor living areas. As the owners approach their new living space, a detached carport is allows the owners to “leave the car behind”. This living space owners are Leo Marmol and his wife Alisa Becket.
This living space is employs four house modules and six deck modules. Which is holds a guest living space and the studio space, the sheltered living spaces blend the indoors with the outdoors, and it is simultaneously extending and connecting the living space itself to the north wing. Which is anchored on a recesses platform, this living space project are hovers two feet above the desert landscape. To views of the San Jacinto and San Gorgonio mountains, the main living space unfolds west. The sheltered living spaces which is blending indoors and the outdoors is provided by the living space open frames, while it is simultaneously extending and connecting the living space to the north wing which is containing a guesthouse and the studio space. The living space is creates a protected environment which is includes a pool and fire pit by forming an “L” shape.
This living space itself is built with prefabricated technologies in a factory. Twelve feet wide modules can extend up to sixty four feet in length and use any type of cladding, including metal, wood or glass by using a steel framing. By the architect, the desert house is built with three types of basic modules: it is the interior modules which comprise the living spaces, exterior modules defining covered outdoor living areas and sunshade modules which are providing a protection from the sun. As well as the sustainable design concepts, the design of the home is employs passive and active solar technologies. The power which is the house used is provided by the solar panels. The impact of the harsh summer sun is minimized by the sunshades on the south and west facades, while the concrete floors are provide a passive solar heat gain in the colder months.
