A Contemporary Emmental Stairs Circular Pattern Design
A contemporary staircases design project is completed designed by the architect Biljana Jovanovic. The architect is a Croatian architect which is based in Budapest, Hungary. The architect recently designed this staircase for a family apartment. The staircase project which called the Emmental stairs is designed for a young creative family with an exquisite design taste and an eye for the details and their two children.
The architect client is just starting the refurbishment of their apartment and they wanted the interior staircases design which will harmonize with the historic ambiance of the apartment and their aesthetic requirements. Besides, they also add an extra touch to their living space. It inevitably has to be treated as the focal points of the space since it is centrally located in the apartment.
This contemporary staircases design is suspended encasement and it is divides the living room inside the apartment from the dining room and the kitchen. It is also provides the certain level of the intimacy without isolating these spaces. The circular perforations on the sides which lets the sunlight seep through is creating the surface which change the dynamics of the whole interior. Large windows which another focus point of the apartment is inspired the circle motif of the staircase.
This staircase project is named Emmental Stairs as they remind a lot of the holes in cheese. This “object” features a playful touch for the children as well, apart from being used for its original function. Which boosts their imagination and develops their creativity, it is used as an inspirational toy and due to the technical restraint the slope of the stairs had to be kept quite steep. This is somewhat eased through the usage of the angled threads which complements the visual effect of the staircase itself.
