Station 20 by Peter Ruge Architecten
Nowadays, everything has to be neat and modern. Moreover it will be great if the architecture is a futuristic one. Like this example one which will be I reviewed, a futuristic station design. When I look for the proposal image, it’s an attraction for me and I really amazed. Feel curious yet? Then give it a break!
Recently I have got the information about the metro station from Peter Ruge Architekten, a famous group of the architect who created this proposal. The metro station is called the Station 20, a modern futuristic station design. The place will be sited in Metro Line 1 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Well, if I see this location on the web which I have observated before, this station will acts as a primary metro connection between Sofia’s city center and the airport and the hub of a major commercial redevelopment plan. The architect design seems seeks to establish clear pathways, form active connections and harmonize the architecture and the landscape.
When I see to the proposal image, I guess that the sites linear structure is inspired by the patter and the scale of the neighboring high-density housing blocks of the Druzhba residential quarter. The natural structure of the site boundary is reflected by the angular direction of the landscape. It is generating a visual language which informs the division of the public spaces and creates the pathways, guiding pedestrian flow to and from the station.
Based on the site, I can say via a vast corner plaza the main entry to the Station 20’s underground concourse level is accessed, seems it is providing a public space for the circulation between the station services and the existing bus service infrastructure. There is sweeping canopy of the entrance hall emerges out of the landscape as a wave; it is simultaneously pulling the structure up as it pushes the plaza down into the ground to meet with the level of the concourse. Finely cast steel elements with a non-flammable canvas lining stretched underneath, create an elegant structure and a glowing interior, achieved through concealed and integrated lighting.
In response to the 120,000 daily flows of passengers, the stations concourse level has been extended to accommodate the maximum passenger loads expected, thus reducing congestion through passenger control systems. Visual connection from all entrances into the halls has been optimized to promote passenger safety, assist station security and maximize natural light. One thing, this site are which will be used for this station proposal is covers about 21, 390 square meters.
Well that is all I have got. Think the same as me that this station is incredible. Have a nice day guys!
