MV House Entry Side Architecture Design

Hi guys! In this perfect moment I would like to share with you about modern home design. Many home designs had reviewed in the previous post, now I have something new about the modern home design. Feel curious yet? Then give it a break guys!

This modern home design is called the MV House, MV is stand for Martha’s Vineyard House. This modern living space is completed by the Architecture Research Office, I call it ARO. To be amazed, this living space is comprises area for about 2,700 square meters. It is located in Chilmark, MA (Martha Vineyard), USA.

This living space is frames the transition from the land to the strong horizontal datum and vast open of the ocean. This living space is precisely situated against a gentle hill at the southern edge of a clearing in the woods, which offers an expensive view of the water. Three blocks containing different domestic programs are arranged to define a series of exterior spaces, including a protected entry court partially enclosed by the adjacent wooded slope.

Based on my observation, two perpendicular, L-shaped walls clad in cedar siding define the north and south blocks. Their horizontality, depth and texture accentuate the connection of the house to the site. The detailing of these walls, using two different widths and depths of specially-milled wood boards, echoes the shadows cast by the surrounding scrub oak trees. A laser cutter was a critical tool employed to explore phenomena of light, shadow, pattern and texture in the design of these walls. Contrasting in scale and orientation, standing seam zinc siding and wood windows comprise the balance of the house’s enclosure.

Let me talk a bit about the architect guys! Architecture Research Office (ARO) is the New York City firm which is led by Stephen Cassell, Adam Yarinsky and Kim Yao. Founded in 1993, ARO has earned a reputation for earnest exploration and fearless engagement that yields architecture that is original, innovative and imaginative. The firm’s process of investigation, analysis, and testing makes ARO as much a laboratory as a design practice.

At its core, ARO is a firm for the new millennium. Its diverse project portfolio–spanning strategic planning, architecture and urban design–solves seemingly intractable problems with apparent ease, always with an effort to have the greatest aesthetic impact using the fewest natural and financial resources.
