The Modular Arts is a Seattle-based company which designs and produces technologically advanced gypsum based 3-dimensional wall panel materials which are used by the designer worldwide. The company growing business is recently relocated to a light-industrial building with the accommodations for both office and manufacturing functions. Which is required the replacement of all existing finishes, systems and the furnishings, the architect is brought in to a collaborate on the office interior tenant improvement.
This project has a very tight budget and it is built by the Modular Arts crew rather than by a general contractor. For this project, the architect strategy is consisted of the simple details, durable finishes and a liberal use of the company’s products. The architect’s strategy is allowing the tenant-builder to execute the work within their comfort zone. The furnishings are the mostly purchased second-hand, and the front desk sourced from a local wood salvage company.
