The owners of this estate near Le Mans in France have combined ther possessions and style with great accord. The wife, and english interior designer, and her French husband took on the 1806 Directoire property immediately after their marriage.
A pretty two-storey house with numerous guest bedrooms, some of which are set behind dormer windows in the roof, it has the classic, highly desirable proportions of the period.
A broad, raised stone terrace graces the front, while in the centre is a double entrance-hall, the staircase rising from a smaller hall behind. To the left is a large reception room, and beyond it another, used for shooting parties, runs the full depth of the house. Reached by way of a bright corridor is the dining-room, and beyond that a large library, which links to the kitchen.
The decoration throughout relies on a mix of wonderful antique furniture behind the house, and ponds, woods and fields surround the property, creating private haven of peace and quiet
