A great cafe which has the beautiful interior design is constructed in 2010. The location of this cafe is precisely in Parque das Nações, Lisbon. This cafe is built intended to be a “parent and child cafe”, which this is a place where the parents can take some rest and enjoy for having a coffee break with their friends without worry about their children, it because inside the cafe there is a playground area. Although this cafe is offering the playroom are, this cafe is not intended to be or fell like a nursery or a playground, but instead, it is intended to be a comfortable and intimate place for adults, whether they have children or not. To achieve this, a warm lighting and the materials such as pinewood laminate the flooring, are used and a great focus is put on acoustics. To accommodate the children itself, the house basic pattern is shaped a playroom/playhouse, stocked with several books, toys and an indoor playground is built. Outside of the playhouse it’s the grown-ups world, while inside the childrens one: walls, floor and ceiling are yellow, everything is scaled to their size – even the height of the two big window sills, which allow the parents to easily watch-out for their children.
The Ternullomelo Architects itself is based in Lisbon, Europe. Its architectural practice is founded in 2006 by Chiara Ternullo and Pedro Teixeira de Melo. Which following in long term collaboration, the studio has since then been not only involved in several competitions, but it also worked on a small and a medium scale projects for public and private clients. Great! It mostly in Italy and Portugal. Its work has been awarded with several prizes, such as the first prize (with Par-atelier) in both the Marceddi and Santa Caterina dei Pittinuri, Costeras international architecture competitions is promoted by the Sardinian Regional Government. Both projects are later exhibited, presented and discussed by the judge members (Bernardo Secchi, Iñaki Abalos and Barbara Aronson) during the second edition of the Festarch Architecture Festival, which took place in Sardinia in the summer of 2008. More recently the studio has been awarded the third prize (with Paratelier) in Ischia’s Aragonese Castle Cathedral spatial reconfiguration international competition and an honorable mention (with Ventura Trindade, arquitectos/ João Maria Trindade) in “Norte/Sul – Arquitectura contemporânea em diálogo” exhibition project international competition promoted by Lisbon Architecture Triennial’s. Recently the studio was awarded with the New Italian Blood Award 2010 and appeared in several publications in Italy, Portugal, Servia, Spain and Poland.
