Residential Home Design Section Architecture
Residential home design which called the No.8 Residential Residence is completed designed by the architect Jonathan Gibb. This residential project is a paper architecture explorative analysis of the house; it is relative to the landscape of the central Otago.
The aesthetic of this residential is a bold foray of built shape which is placed in conversance to the surroundings as the title declares. This project is designed by the architect Jonathan Gibb. The concept of this project, No.8 Wire, and its associated ideals of the adaptability have been used to give emphasis to the juxtaposition of a house within the expanse of a landscape.
The historic use of this project has entered into the cultural lexicon of many countries, especially in the New Zealand concept of resourcefulness and creativity; best it is described as New Zealander’s ingenuity and adaptability.
Residential Home Design Concept
By use of the gable end, the intimacy and the concept of what constitutes a home has been simply portrayed, it is used as an indoctrinating device to express the essence of the suburbia’s aesthetic, a figure and some kind like ‘sign’ of what may constitute a home.
It is abstracted and re-formed into a self sustaining entity, self referential through mirroring, offset and re-expressed as a didactic expression of space. The design is relies on repetitive elements which is amassed as a kit of parts, it is based at 1.2 meters grid in plan and section it. The overall ensconce is made from 3 types of the space; transparent solid and void. Which is containing the living dining and the kitchen, the upper volume is transparent; publicly expressed and it is opened to the surroundings.
The next volume of this living space is solid which is containing bedding and ablutions; it is privatized to the individuals of the house. With the shift of the volumes longitudinally, the externalized decks are formed, with the main deck formed with the cantilevered and wire which is supported the structure for use from the living spaces.
The assembly which is placed on the repeating pilasters is separating the whole from the ground plain which also serving to extradite the building from its earthy foundation. Which is forming a glistening web of the constant threads combining all as one whole, the overall combination of these spaces is then wrapped in the project which called No.8 wire.
