A residence project which called the Suncrest Residence is located on Orcas Island in Washington State. This residence is precisely located on a pristine site which is comprised of a mature Douglas fir and the pacific madrone forest with occasionally rocky clearings and several small ponds. With the bald eagle nest and the tress prone to blight if it is being disturbed, the site area of this residence is ecologically sensitive. Over the native basalt which is just minimal only, the soil is coverage it, it is rendering the storm water management a serious concern. The architect client’s desired a work of the architecture which is minimized the site impacts, while creating a work of the architecture which is utilized their favorite materials such as wood and concrete, and connected them intimately with the land and the view.

The architect design solution against this client’s order is situates the home where the forest is gives a way to a large rocky clearing with the great and amazing views to the sea near this residence. Which is carefully situated to require the minimum tree removal, the structure wraps a prominent outcropping of the rock. In order to minimize the site disturbance, the strict site access the protocol is put in a place for the duration of the design construction and the landscape has been carefully restored. The rain leaders have been piped to a nearby pond for the natural filtration and dispersion; it is achieved to eliminate the storm water issues. The roof garden of this residence has been utilized; it is where this is not possible due to grades. The every room sea views are allowed by the long and narrow footprint of the home itself, while it is also retaining a strong connection to the surrounding forest. To harmonize with the colors and the textures of the natural surroundings living space, the materials palette is chosen to achieve it, the primary materials which are consist of the Douglas fir and madrone wood from the forest, concrete, zinc, steel and glass is selected for the best result architecture design by the architect.
