The Tehran Business Hotel Competition which was held in the spring of 2010 is a private competition. Bonsar Architecture Studio based in Iran was the winner of the competitors with their great proposal. The Tehran Business Hotel Competition was held because the competitor wanted in order to achieve a better one. And as a result, the competition must improve the previous design to get the building permit from the municipality rather than before. Find the weaknesses and the constrain of the primary design based on the competition brief and make it as a first step to the design process.

The three main challengers were founded by the Bonsar Architecture Studio team. The step which the Bonsar Architecture studio team is analyzed the challenges itself and then the tools their used to break the problem. It would be the main approaches defining the design process

The first that the bonsar architecture studio faced work along at the first glance over the program brief was that build the two building project in a one building project. The first building would be a comfortable hotel and the second one was a more public programs like conference center and trade center or commerce. The commerce is the most important project because its point of view for the guest or customer. Look at the relief which was semi buried under the ground was the most problem, because it will be less important place in the first sight. That was the other problem or challenge to be done for Bonsar Architecture Studio team.

The third challenge came from the program itself. Because it was the hotel project was not suitable for became an business center. The expectation of its must be revised to attract the guest or customer. So the Bonsar Architecture Studio step was to add some new programs like working area, private meeting room and traditional restaurant. Those new revised is depended for the guest activities during their stay at the comfortable hotel.

But actually besides the three problem that the team faced, there was another problem from the project itself, the location which blocked in the west site, while the other site is free. It caused the west elevation would be ignored by the customers.

Regarding the difference in height which the project has with its surrounding, which is emphasized as a result of being located on a hill, it would be visible from several parts of the city. furthermore, the client has mentioned that they wanted the building to be a land mark, which wouldn’t be possible without paying special attention to the huge wall on the west in the primary design. consequently the west elevation became an important problem to be done.
