The house design which called the River Road House is completed designed by the Hughes Umbanhowar Architects, this living space project which is covers an area for about 12,300 square foot is located in Sewall’s Point, Florida and it is has been completed in 2008. In the morning, this young family’s house cloaked in light which is reflected and retracted from the faceted mahogany framed windows of this regal residence.
The house structure is reverent in its embrace of the outdoors, both the two-acre waterfront lot it occupies and the landscape beyond. Ensconced in the hillside which is overlooks the water, the structure is a series of the expansive and intimate the courtyards and cantilevered the decks, the spaces seem to defy the gravity, which is architectonically echo the diaphanous volumes of the interior, even while embracing the solidity of the Italian limestone and stucco facades. Views to the southwest encompass the dynamic activity of the marina in an inland waterway and track the movements of sun, wind and water.
This living space project is a complex composition, reminiscent of the canvases of the Georges Braque. The geometric is forms appear and disappear in a constant dance of the illusion and the materiality. Yet interlocking the rectilinear volumes which is conjoined by a transparent longitudinal axis, the house is comprises a series of the distinct. The heightened tension and the intrigue are created by positive volumes which are balanced atop negative. The two dominant volumes, or towers are connected and distinguished by a glass-skinned throughway, it is capturing the light and adding to the sense of the interior capaciousness. The exterior glass limestone, stucco and the mahogany outline, augment and anchor what otherwise might be a cacophony of the disparate forms.
The varied rhythm of the internal structure is adroitly composed whether allegro, andante or largo. Depending on the need and the mood, denizens move with the leisure or the efficiency. To conceal and reveal the dramatic views to the water, the interior spaces are carefully orchestrated. The skillful interior and the exterior framing are amplifies the surprise and delight. In the same way, the arrangement of the program and use are move the inhabitant, it is through a logical gradient from the public to the private space, from the activity to slumber, from the conviviality to the introspection. The separate stairways is enhance the circulation and provides the discrete access to the three-storied parapets, it is at the either end of the longitudinal axis which is connects the two domestic partitions.
The Mahogany, Minnesota Limestone and the plaster finishes are highlighted the gracious interior. The aluminum louvers and the astute structural arrangement mitigate the afternoon sun. A sliding window wall which is opens to an exterior courtyard is enhanced the bulthaup kitchen, it is further collapsing the distinction between the exterior and the interior space, and thereby underscoring the sense of the spontaneous yet calculated arrangement.
