Valentine apartment bedroom interior design
This project is called the Valentine Apartment. The French architect, Emmanuel Combarel Dominique Marrec (ECDM) has transformed the small apartment with the clear strategy: Decompartmentalise the place so as to fit out an open plan and elude the demand of an extra room by conceiving in the center of the volume a suspended white cube which generates comic and disconcerting use situations. The first step that the architect does is plugging the bedroom under the apartment ceiling. The difference in height is shared the volume from a simple to a fake double height, 3.70 meters under the ceiling in the main room, which has been originally marqued by a awkward mezzanine under in which one can be able to up. To achieve that, the small doorway is managed into a separating wall which is existed between the 2 volumes.
The main step in the construction is freed from all order. It because the matter work is on a 50 square meters area inside the apartment itself, in which the variety of the orientation, the volumes is makes possible unusual, uncommon living situation.
The client itself wants to fit out an independent bedroom. The restraint of the client demand has been turned in to an advantage to the architect by putting the intermediary room in a central position. It is straddling by the two floor levels, which is disconnected from the floor. The bedroom itself become an islet in the center of the apartment, around which able to turn, it is experimenting the different moods; up/ down, bellow/ above, on/ under and revealing unseemly uses.
The bedroom commonly is connoted as the archetype of privacy, intimacy, which is become an object of the curiosity by transgressing his symbolic value which is appearing like an anomaly. The bedroom in this apartment is designed to be open and visible from the entrance, it is stands for huge inhabited furniture. The bedroom is facing by the dining room which is so can be used as a bum rest” or a bench.
The bedroom here as a hut in the middle of the flat. It is suspended right in the main of the apartment and leaving the untouched the floor and the circulation in the around. It is divides the space, reversing the perception of the atmosphere inside the apartment by making private what is usually not the living room. So, wherever the owner stand below or above, it is truncates the perception of the occupiers bodies of whom one only sees the legs sitting, crossing or walking around in the place. The suspended boss is made from a metallic structure (section 40 x 40 mm) which is covered with the wooden panels. The cube – as well as the floor, the walls and the ceiling, has been painted with a white polyurethane resin.
